JAMMU: One Army jawan was killed and another injured when snow avalanche hit in Mandi area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
An army jawan was killed and another injured after an avalanche hit an army post in Sawjian sector of Poonch as an army post of Rashtriya Rifles came under it on Thursday morning at K K Galki, forward area in Sawjian sector along the Line of Control, official sources here said.
They said that two soldiers came under the avalanche following which a search operation was launched and they were evacuated.
However, one of the jawans was reportedly identified as Lance Naik Sapan Mehra of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh died while Sepoy Harpreet Singh of Punjab suffered injuries and was taken to nearby army’s hospital health for treatment. (AGENCIES)
