BHADERWAH, Jan 14: Snow covered Guldanda meadow in J&K’s Bhaderwah, which has emerged as the most loved snow destination among tourists, has received another major attraction especially for adventure lovers as the Tourism Department in collaboration with Bhaderwah Development Authority has introduced snow skiing to further attract tourists in a big way.
The serene surroundings of famous Guldanda in Bhaderwah valley are filled with thrill and adventure these days amid a mega snow skiing event to promote Adventure Tourism and Winter Sports.
The snow skiing training programme being jointly organised by Jammu Tourism is attracting both tourists and local youth in large number as they are finding it extremely adventures to ski on the breath taking Guldanda meadow at a height of 10,000 ft above sea level.
“As part of adventure tourism promotion by adopting a holistic approach, Tourism Department introduced snow skiing at Guldanada and it is heart warming to see the response of local youth and visitors as the skiing on snow surely added to the attraction of Guldanda and it will surely attract adventure lovers, which will further boost tourism prospects in this part of the UT,” said Aniza Mushtaq, Coordinator of the Training Programme.
Experts of the game and skiing instructors also seem to be in awe of the beauty of snow covered Guldanda slopes located amid Ashapati and Kailash glaciers.
“Guldanada has got all the ingredients to be introduced as ski resort as it has got both types of slopes for beginners and professionals as well,” said Manzoor Ahmed Lone, Skiing Instructor from Gulmarg.
Notably, significant number of participants were local youth, especially girls, underscoring the growing interest and participation of women in winter sports.
“We have been introduced to this sport for the first time here and for this we are thankful to the authorities,” said Danish Ayaz, 21, a trainee from Bhaderwah.
