SHIMLA, Jan 1:
Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecasted rain or snowfall at many places in the state on the first day of 2019 as the sky overcast from noon is likely to increase the cold wave and end prolonged dry spell in the state.
As per IMD forecast, rain or snowfall is expected at many places in the foothill, mid hills and high reaches of the state on Jan 1 and Jan 2 with activation fresh western disturbances. IMD also issued warning of heavy rainfall for Jan 4 and 5.
Meanwhile night temperature showed improvement in the state as Keylong recorded minus 6.8 degrees, Kalpa minus 3.4 degrees, Manali minus 0.2 degrees, Sundernagar zero degrees, Mandi 0.1 degrees, Bhuntar 0.2 degrees, Una 0.7 degrees and Solan 1.8 degrees Celsius while Hamirpur was recorded at two degrees, Bilaspur 2.4 degrees, Chamba 2.9 degrees, Kufri four degrees, Kangra 4.3 degrees, Dharmshala 4.4 degrees, Shimla 5.2 degrees, Nahan 6.2 degrees and Dalhousie 6.5 degrees respectively. Rain or snowfall has not been reported from any place so far. (UNI)
