Srinagar, Nov 19: The hills of Kashmir including Gulmarg witnessed fresh snowfall today while parts of the Valley were lashed by rains leading to drop in the temperatures across the region.
A Meteorological Department official said that North Kashmir hills received fresh snowfall since morning with Sadhna Top receiving around one feet of snow. He said that the rain and snow is likely to continue tonight.
Gulmarg, Razdan Top, Gurez, Machil and other places received fresh light snowfall while Bandipora-Gurez has been closed for vehicular movement.
Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather would continue to remain dry from tomorrow. “There is no possibility of any wet spell from tomorrow till November 28,” he added.
He added that the minimum temperature would go further down in coming days amid the dry weather conditions. “There were less chances for today’s precipitation forecast and the weather remained cloudy at majority of the places across the Valley,” he said.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar on previous night settled at 2.2°C while the maximum temperature today was recorded at 11.3°C. In Gulmarg, the minimum temperature settled at minus 1.5°C while today it was recorded at 3.6°C.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 1.3°C precious night while today it settled at 9.4°C. In Kupwara, the minimum temperature settled at 1.8°C while today it settled at 9.3°C.
