Srinagar, Jan 31: The higher reaches of Kashmir experienced a light snowfall while some plains received rainfall today.
The tourist destinations of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg received light snowfall overnight.

Srinagar and some other parts of Kashmir received light rainfall this afternoon.
Meteorological Department Director Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said there are chances of light snowfall over the upper reaches and some plains may also receive light snowfall with rains during the next 24 hours.
He said some parts of South Kashmir may also receive rain and snowfall during the period.
There are chances of light snowfall and rain from the evening of February 3 over the isolated places while on February 4 the weather will generally remain cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at many places over Jammu and Kashmir.
There is a possibility of yet another spell of light rain/snow at scattered places towards early morning/forenoon on January 5.
Meanwhile, barring Gulmarg, the night temperature rose again at most of the places in the region following snowfall over the higher catchments in Kashmir valley overnight.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded last night at 0.1°C and it was 0.7°C above normal for the place.
The Ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla recorded a low of -6°C and it was 1.4°C above the average for the Valley of meadows during this time. The tourist resort of Pahalgam had a low of -1.7°C.
The day temperature recorded in Srinagar was 11.7°C today.
