Social activist joins National Conference

BANIHAL, June 24: A prominent social activist Molvi Mohammad Akbar Zohda along with his supporters joined the National Conference in a function held here today.
In this regard a function was organised by National Conference leader and district president, Ramban Sajjad Shaheen, who welcomed the Molvi Mohammad Akbar Zohda along with others into the party’s ranks.
Speaking on the occasion, Shaheen emphasized the importance of socio-political leaders in contributing to a harmonious and equitable society.
He expressed confidence that the new incumbents would bring valuable insights and energy to the National Conference’s mission.
Shaheen has said that a realisation has dawned on the people that there is no alternative to National Conference and the party alone can represent the social, political and economic aspirations and multifarious problems effectively and single-mindedly of the people of erstwhile UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the state is going through very difficult times and it is the people who have an important and valuable role to play in addressing the challenges faced by the people.
“A decisive battle is needed to be fought against divisive forces, who have taken central stage by exploiting regional and religious sentiments to further their myopic and nefarious political agenda,” he said.
Shaheen exhorted the people to strengthen the National Conference at grassroots level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting no reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.
Among others who attended the event included Mohd Afzal Wani, Parvez Ahmed Sheikh, block president Haji Abdul Ahad Shan, Abdul Gani Wani, Haji Mohd Safdar Wani, Haji Bashir Ahmed Wani, Abdul Wahid Mir, Farooq Ahmed Khan, Abdul Hamid Khan, Choudhry Jamat Ali, besides youth Provincial Vice president Tariq Ahmed Dar, Rayees Mir, Mohd Salim Zohda and Tanveer Dar.
