JAMMU, Apr 9: Asserting that social distancing and staying at home are the most effective measures against COVID-19 spread, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla asked people to differentiate between facts and rumours regarding Coronavirus and urged both the Centre and J&K Governments to take measures against the virus with utmost sensitiveness.
Taking note of health professionals, those working in the healthcare sectors and first responders, who faced ill-treatment because of their proximity with infected people, Bhalla said those in white coats are like God, who help others while keeping their life in danger.
Asking people not to heed to rumours regarding particular diet or a ritual or high temperature can contain the virus spread, Bhalla said the virus does not discriminate against anyone whether rich or poor or any type of household or even those who exercise regularly, therefore, social distancing is one of the most effective ways to combat it.
Bhalla also asked people to take care of poor and needy families in the time of despair and asked people to take care of needy families during lockdown, which he said will be the biggest offering to poor and marginalized.
He also asked people to take care of animals and birds and advised them to encourage first responders, administration, hospitals, media and police who are working to combat the virus.
Meanwhile, amid outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Bhalla today continued distribution of essential items among the needy persons in various parts of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
In this regard, he distributed food items among needy families at Rajiv Nagar Mazdoor Basti.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla included Block President Jatinder Singh Chib, Panch Gagan Bral, Panch Harvinder Kour, Distt general Secretary DCC Aman Bawa, Iqbal singh, Diwan Chand, Paras Ram, Kalla Ram, and Bunty Pardaan.
“The Government should immediately start conducting rapid antibody based blood test for COVID-19 on people living in clusters, in large migration gatherings and evacuee’s centres, where a large number of positive cases are arising. The rapid anti-body test is most suitable to detect whether the disease is spreading in the area or not as it gives quick results,” Bhalla maintained.
