Social organizations demand State holiday on B’day of Maharaja

JAMMU, Sept 21: Various social organizations of Jammu today stressed upon the Governor SP Malik to declare State holiday on September 23, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Addressing a joint press conference here at Press Club, heads and representatives of prominent social and other organizations including VP Sharma (president, Brahman Sabha), Zorawar Singh (president, Team Jammu), Romesh Mahajan (president, Mahajan Sabha), Bodh Raj (vice president, Bhagat Sabha), Neeraj Anand, (president, Chamber of Traders Federation Jammu), M S Katoch (working president, JPPF Jammu), Abhinav Sharma (former president, Bar Association Jammu), B S Slathia (president, J&K Bar Association Jammu) and Narayan Singh, president, Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha J&K, announced that 124th Birth Anniversary of late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji will be celebrated in a big way on September 23.
They appealed the Jammuites to participate in the function, which will be organized at 4 PM at Maharaja Hari Singh Ji Park at Jammu, opposite Fortune Hotel, near Bank of Tawi River, to pay respectful homage to the Maharaja of J&K State. “The Maharaja of the State deserved to be honoured for the deeds he had done for the welfare of the people of the State.
All the speakers in one voice praised the bold decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to sign the historical Instrument of Accession with Government of India. The speakers further appealed Governor SP Malik to consider the genuine demand of Jammuites and declare Gazetted Holiday on Birth Anniversary of late Maharaja Hari Singh at the earliest.
