JAMMU, Feb 27: Jammu based social organizations have expressed their serious concern over the alleged attempts of some elements to flare up communal tensions in the State, particularly in this region, by resorting to attacks on the persons discharging their official duty.
While addressing a joint press conference, president of Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, Narayan Singh, president of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma and president of Central Mahajan Sabha, Vinod Gupta said that the recent day light murder of a Forest Guard at Purmandal and attack on Police party near Sarore by some Gujjars are glaring examples of lawlessness prevailing in the State.
“More worrisome is the response of State Government, which has neither uttered even a single word of sympathy with the family of deceased Forest Guard nor announced any compensation to the bereaved family while in Sarore incident, the SHO Bari Brahmana was placed under suspension for taking action against the attackers, who had snatched weapon of Police and made cops hostage,” they said.
The trio said that such instances have demoralized the peace loving people of the State and also the belt force. “We request the Governor of this State to kindly review the situation and ensure that the culprits are punished for restoring confidence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir before the situation takes an ugly turn,” they added.
