JAMMU, Aug 11: In a simple but impressive function, J&K State Social Welfare Board (JKSSWB) distributed wheelchairs to needy disabled persons and stretchers as well as trolleys to Regional Red Cross Society Jammu.
MLC Ashok Khajuria, who was chief guest of the occasion, gave away these appliances to the lesser privileged of the society.
At the very outset, chairperson, JKSSWB, Dr (Prof) Nirmal Gupta, presented welcome address and briefed about the functioning of the Board.
Ashok Khajuria, in his speech, termed the distribution of appliances to physically disabled as much required gesture and called it a historical day, when the Board with limited resources has been able to reach out to the needy.
He assured his support and cooperation to the Board while rendering such humane services. He also promised that he will provide assistance to the Board out of his CDF, whenever required.
Dinesh Gupta, officiating secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and Dinesh Gupta and Ansuyisa Khosa, Members of J&K State Social Welfare Board, and various representatives of voluntary organizations besides, staff and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
