JAMMU, Feb 24: Sajad Gani Lone, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Lone informed the Governor about several issues relating to the execution of various State and Central Schemes which are being executed by the departments and agencies under his charge. He also acquainted the Governor about the progress achieved in respect of several initiatives which were taken by him after taking over his present responsibilities.
Governor urged Lone to personally review the implementation of each of the State and Central Schemes in the entire social welfare sector and also take urgent steps to review State Acts and Rules dealing with alleviating the lot of persons with disabilities, particularly for making them more user friendly.
Governor also advised Lone to take time-bound steps to ensure that the provisions of Central Disability Act, 2016 are adopted in toto as a new State Act or incorporated in the existing State Act so that the persons with disabilities are provided all required support and facilities without any delay.
The Governor recalled that he had already advised Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in this regard and hoped that this matter will receive urgent attention. Further, as suggested by Lone the Governor had addressed the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, and requested his early help in regard to certain pending matter.
