Arms, ammunition, cash recovered

JAMMU, Apr 4: The Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu and police today arrested a commander of Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) from Jhajjar Kotli on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway when he was on way here along with arms, ammunition and cash to carry out terror strike.
He has been identified as Malik Umaid alias Abdullah son of Abdul Rashid Malik, a resident of Yaripora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Joint teams of SOG Jammu and police under the supervision of SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli and SP Operations Naresh Singh during naka checking at Jhajjar Kotli intercepted vehicles for checking after developing specific inputs about movement of a militant towards Jammu from Srinagar.
During checking, the militant jumped out of a vehicle and tried to run away. However, alert police parties chased and apprehended the militant.
He was subjected to questioning during which he disclosed his identity and turned out to be a listed militant of the ISJK outfit.
Police teams recovered one pistol, eight rounds and Rs 1.13 lakh worth cash from his possession.
During preliminary questioning, the militant disclosed that he was in touch with more operatives of the ISJK module and was heading towards Jammu from Srinagar for carrying out terror strike.
Further questioning of the militant is on and some more clues are expected.
A First Information Report (FIR) No. 53/2021 under Sections 13, 17, 20 and 23 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered against the militant at Jhajjar Kotli police station for further investigations.
