JAMMU, Apr 11: A Defence Security Corps (DSC) soldier died after an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), deployed for surveillance, crashed into a tower at Jammu Airport here.
The incident occurred around 1:30 PM on Thursday when a UAV conducting the reconnaissance mission crashed into an Indian Air Force (IAF) tower within the technical area of the Jammu airport, critically injuring Naik Surender Kumar, who was on duty at the tower, said a police official.

He was immediately admitted to Military Hospital Jammu, where he succumbed during the treatment, the police official said.
The Technical Airport is part of the Jammu Airport, designated for operations of the Indian Air Force’s chopper unit.
Meanwhile, Martyr Surender Kumar, a resident of Muthi Kalan in Samba district, was cremated with full military honours in his native village today. The martyr’s son lit the fire.
Martyr Kumar had four brothers, and Surender was the third one. He had joined the Army’s Defence Security Corps (DSC) 7 years back. He had to go to Kerala to serve in a few days. During his posting in Jammu, the martyr would often talk to his family over the mobile and sometimes got the opportunity to meet them as well.
