Som Nath demands regularization of PHE workers, pending wages

UDHAMPUR, Aug 2: Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees and Workers Association held a meeting at PHE Complex Udhampur under the chairmanship of Som Nath, President of Jal Shakti employees.
During the meeting, various long pending genuine demands of the employees were highlighted. Som Nath criticized the role of J&K UT Government and demanded that the pending issue of all type of Daily Wagers who are working since 20-25 years should be resolved.
“The Government is befooling the Daily Wagers and taking work from them for free. The new budget of Union Govt was presented and there is no provision of funds for the Daily Wagers and this is a shameful act by the Union Govt and UT Govt,” he said and stressed that the backlog of the wages of 60-70 months of the Daily Wagers should be paid immediately with interest.
During the meeting, various long pending genuine demands of the employees were highlighted. The Association demanded that CP/ITI/Land Case Workers should be regularized immediately besides those who have completed seven years of service.
The Association appealed Government to clear all pending wages of the workers and keep a separate head of wages in the Central Union Budget to clear the liability. The Association demanded implementation of Minimum Wages Act, engagement of workers for smoothly running the water supply schemes, conversion of half cadre post to full cadre, etc.
Som Nath appealed to the UT Govt to solve the issue of the Daily Wagers to avoid any protest by them ahead of upcoming Assembly elections.
Others who spoke in the meeting, included Vijay Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Kuldeep Kumar, Sham Lal, Prabhu Lal, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra and Shambu Nath.
