Sombrun village facing complete blackout for over one month

ANANTNAG, Apr 30: The Sombrun village in Shangus Constituency of Anantnag district of South Kashmir has been plunged into darkness since March 27 after the local transformer developed a snag.
The inhabitants of this tiny hamlet visited every concerned office and also approached the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, local MLA Peer Mansoor Ahmed, Chief Engineer, M&RE Kashmir as well as concerned Executive Engineer M&RE but to no avail.
Expressing concern over the callousness of the authorities they said that since March 27 twice transformers were installed and they could not function more than a one day resulting into a lot of trouble to the inhabitants of the area.
Earlier one transformer caught fire and services of fire tenders were utilized to control the same which otherwise could have engulfed the entire area, the villagers said.
They in an appeal to Minister of State for Power, MLA Shangus and PDD authorities urged them to pay immediate attention towards the problem as complete blackout for over a month has added to their problems especially school and college going children who are unable to read in the darkness.
