Something wrong in JKPSC, Govt unmoved: PCC

JAMMU, June 11: J&K Pardesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has demanded high level investigation into the forgery of policy documents of Public Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement issued here JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, said the forgery of policy documents has substantiated the general perception that all is not well in the Public Service Commission and unless the remedial measures are taken immediately in this major recruiting agency, things are not going to improve and biased approach in selections will continue.
He said though the PSC is an autonomous body yet level of transparency in the Commission during previous Government was much more as compared to at present, adding “we are not against selection of candidates from one region or the other, all what we want that only meritorious candidates must get selected.
The prevailing situation substantiates and strengthen the belief that something is seriously wrong in JKPSC, he added. The claims of the PSC about its functioning don’t carry any meaning when there is public rage against selections made by it during the past nearly two years. The continuous protests particularly from the students clearly indicate level of resentment against the selections and unless the same is taken seriously it will explode like anything, he said.
Sharma questioned the coalition Government for taking the issue lightly especially when Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has established forgery of policy documents of this major recruiting agency of the State aimed at indicating the deep-rooted nexus of vested interests, putting a big question mark on the credibility, reputation and working of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.
Sharma maintained that all out attempts are being made to shield those involved in the criminal offence in order to maintain the deep rooted nexus, which otherwise is depriving meritorious candidates from state for various posts in Government departments.
He appealed Government to take steps to streamline the functioning of Public Service Commission by acting on the report of Forensic Science Laboratory.
