Son kills father in Kathua

KATHUA, Aug 9: In a cold blooded murder, a son killed his octogenarian father in village Bakhta falling under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh police station in Kathua district this evening.
According to police, Lekh Raj son of Hariya objected to his son Banarsi who came to the house in a drunken condition this evening. He scolded Banarsi and the latter who was totally under the influence of liquor took a rod and attacked his father resulting in his instant death.
Banarsi did not inform the matter to any one in the village. However, some villagers came to know of the incident after two hours of the episode and they informed the Chowki Officer Jakhod. A team of police from Jakhod PP rushed the spot and they recovered the dead body. However Banarsi fled from the spot giving a slip to the police.
The police took the dead body to DH Kathua and after the postmortem tomorrow it will be handed over to relatives for last rites.
The father and son were living alone in the house as the wife of Lekh Raj had already died and Banarsi’s wife was living separately.
Rajbagh Police has registered a case in this regard and launched manhunt to arrest Banarsi when last reports came in.
