‘Sonte Wuzaene’ Musical Album hits stands

JAMMU, Jan 10: J&K Posh Cultural Society released a Music Album in the form of an audio- video compact disc of Kashmiri songs titled ‘Sonte Wuzaene’ sung by well known vocalist Suniana Kaul at an impressive gathering of intellectuals, musicians, singers and artists at Press Club, here, today.
Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu was the chief guest and Vijay Bakaya former MLC and Chief Secretary, J&K was the guest of honour on this occasion. Dr. R L Shant, veteran writer and Prof. Vijay Laxmi, former Principal, GCW were present as special guests. The CD has been dedicated to Late Shamboo Nath Ji Sopori., the Guru of Suniana Kaul.
‘Sounte Wuzaene’ is an audio- video album of Kashmiri lyrics, penned by distinguished poets, namely, Shair- e- Kashmir Mehjoor, late Dina Nath Nadim, late Ghulam Rasool Mir and late ML Saqi. All the songs have been composed by the veteran music composer Pt. T K Jalali, a renowned musician and Sangeet Guru of J&K State except the lyric of Mehjoor, which has been composed originally by her Guru, Pt Shambhoo Nath Ji Sopori. The music has been designed by Kuldeep Saproo, music composer.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Ashok Aima said that there is a need to project the regional culture and languages. He said that Posh Cultural Society has taken the initiative in this regard is a welcome step. He said that such programmes add to the richness of the culture of the communities and make the coming generations to remain in touch with their roots.
Vijay Bakaya in his address appreciated the contribution of Suniana Kaul to enrich the musical traditions of Kashmir. He also appreciated the efforts of J&K Posh Cultural Society for undertaking such programmes which make us aware of our traditions. He also welcomed the release of the music collection by Suniana Kaul.
Earlier Dr. Kuldip K Kaul read the welcome address and informed that the Society is working with zeal for the promotion of Art & Culture under the patronization of Shamim Azad, a veteran singer. The programme was anchored by Ramesh Marhatha, senior Broadcaster, All India Radio, Jammu. Vote of thanks was extended by O P Sharma, Director, Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts.
