Sood hands over 3 mobile vans to EDB

JAMMU, Sept 20: Ajay Kumar Sood, CGM NABARD flagged off three ‘Mobile Demonstration Vans’ and handed the same to Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB) as support under Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) of NABARD.
The vans were handed over to EDB during a programme of ‘Joint Liability Groups’ at Mishriwala near here.
The programme was organised by EDB in coordination with Sahara Jagriti Manch and Kisan Grukukul to sensitize the members about their participatory role in upcoming ‘Vertical Farming’ projects for income generation besides making them fully aware of the importance of enrolment under Social Security Schemes like PMSBY, PMJJBY & APY. Under the scheme 28 JLGs comprising of 276 members in one cluster have to be financed by the Bank under product based cluster mechanism for turmeric cultivation under vertical farming. This would eventually contribute positively to the agricultural value chain and enhance agricultural production.
Besides, farmers and other officials, the programme was attended by Ajay Kumar Sood, Chief General Manager NABARD, Arshadul Islam, Chairman Ellaquai Dehati Bank, Arvinder Singh Sood, Joint Director Agriculture Jammu, . Mir Mohammad Akbar, General Manager EDB, Kuldeep Koul Area Manager EDB, Kuldip Singh Daliwal, Chairman Kisan Gurukul and Sanjeev Verma president of Sahara Jagriti Manch.
