‘Soot Na Kapas’ staged at 4th day of Natrang Theatre Festival

A scene from the play ‘Soot Na Kapas’ directed by Neeraj Kant, presented at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu on Saturday.

On the fourth day of Natrang Theatre Festival, Shailender’s play ‘Soot Na Kapas’ was staged today at Natrang Studio Theatre here under the direction of Neeraj Kant.
The play opens in the house of one Chaman Lal who is telling his wife to get ready fast as they have to reach his boss’s home in time. But she is much involved in make up and suggests him to borrow scooter from his friend Ramesh to save their time.
The drama starts when instead of going physically to his friend, Chaman Lal goes to his home in imagination and imagines all the happenings on his own. He finds that Ramesh is shirking to give the scooter to him and cooks false excuses. He again visits him in his imagination and tries to make him ready, but he is once again denied, this makes him angry and he makes another attempt, yet again in imagination only but Ramesh refuses this time also.
Getting frustrated, he goes to Ramesh again, but this time in reality and spits all the anger on him, of which Ramesh was not even aware of. So, the play very beautifully presents how our thoughts may prove wrong which may end up in a situation like this.
Uplaksh Singh Kotwal as Chaman Lal, Sakshi Prakash as Shaanti and Ashwani Bali as Ramesh played their respected roles brilliantly.  Neeraj Kant designed and executed the lights whereas Susheel Raina operated the music. Mohammad Yaseen coordinated the show whereas Sajra Qadir did the presentations.
Earlier, at the very outset, Natrang director Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang is staging its internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Bawa Jitto’ on March 31st at 6pm at the auditorium of Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The entry to the play is free, he added.
