SRINAGAR, Dec 31: Sopore Cyber Police today announced the recovery of Rs 22,23,343 lost to online fraud and the prevention of Rs 37,14,988 from falling into the hands of fraudsters this year.
A police spokesperson said the cyber cell received 113 complaints of fraudulent bank transactions in 2024. “Through dedicated efforts, the team successfully recovered a substantial amount and prevented further financial losses,” he said.
In addition to tackling financial scams, he added, the Cyber Police resolved several social media crime cases during the year, demonstrating their continued vigilance in the digital space. “The Sopore Police urge the public to remain cautious of online scams and report such incidents to Cyber Cell Sopore at 9596773033 or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in,” the spokesperson added.
