Sopore police seize illicit diesel

SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Police in Sopore today recovered illicit diesel from Chatoosa village and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of the crime.
In a statement issued here, authorities said that the police station Dangiwacha received specific information regarding the transportation of illicit diesel.
“Accordingly, a police party conducted a raid at a specific location in village Chatoosa. During the raid, the police party recovered six barrels of illicit diesel, approximately 750 liters, from the spot,” police said.
The accused person involved in the commission of the crime, police said, has been identified as Babar Shams Baba, son of Shams ud Din Baba, resident of Jalal Abad Sopore.
He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody, police said, adding that a case vide FIR No. 11/2024 under relevant sections of the law has been registered and investigation started.
