JAMMU, Feb 23 : Former Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has asked field functionaries of the party to involve all grass-root workers for a vigorous membership campaign in the State.
The PCC chief who chaired a meeting of the Membership Campaign Committee and all District presidents of Jammu province at PCC Headquarters, here today to take stock of the on going process of the party’s membership drive, asked party functionaries at all levels to involve the grass root activists and workers for a vigorous campaign to enroll fresh members in the party. He said that membership campaign should spread to the younger lot and women, besides enrollment of members belonging to the minorities, SCs, STs, OBCs and other such sections of the society for which there are special provision of adequate representation right from booth level upward in the party’s organizational setup.
Earlier, Sham Lal Sharma, chairman of Membership Campaign Committee for Jammu province briefed Prof Soz about the ongoing process of membership and steps required to expedite and to make the drive a great success. He also made a detailed presentation based on suggestions from other members and functionaries of the party in this regard. The members of the committee and District presidents put fourth their valuable suggestions and had detailed deliberation for facilitating the process at the grass root level, besides strengthening and expanding the organizational structure and setup at the block levels and below to involve more and more dedicated workers in the organizational committees.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Th Hari Singh-vice president PCC, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Shabir Ahmed Khan, S. Manjeet Singh; Shiv Dev Singh, Kanta Bhan, Brij Mohan Sharma, Prakash Sharma-DCC Samba, Subash Gupta-DCC Kathua, Anil Chopra-DCC Jammu (U), Pritam Singh-DCC Reasi, Ashok Gupta-DCC Udhampur, Naresh Gupta-DCC Doda, Pardeep Singh Parihar-DCC Kishtwar, Arun Singh Raju- DCC Ramban besides, Pankaj Dogra, Shashi Sharma, Shamsher Singh Chib, Gurdarshan Singh, Mohammad Hanif Shah and Farooq Katoch.
