JAMMU, Feb 4: Stressing for co-ordination at all levels in the organization with the representatives of the party in the Council of Ministry, PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din today asked the Congress functionaries to highlight problems of the people with the Government and the Ministers of party to get them addressed.
Addressing a meeting of District Congress Committee Jammu Urban at PCC HQ, here today, he said that party is supreme for every partyman and no one is above in the party.
The PCC president asked the party workers to strengthen the organization at the grass root level by encouraging more people especially women and educated and honest people to join Congress party. Congress is strong force in the State but needs to be further strengthened by bringing into its fold honest and educated people including women to serve the people and get their due in every sphere of life, he added.
Prof Soz said that clean and honest people who enjoy respect amongst people would be chosen, after due consultation with the party workers for the forthcoming elections of Municipal Bodies as well the Block Development Councils of Panchayats in the State. The party units should gear up their activities to meet the propaganda of opposition parties and highlight the policies and programmes of the Congress party, he said.
Earlier, Om Chopra president DCC Jammu explained the activities of the distinct committee and the difficulties being faced by the partymen in solving the problems of the common people.
Several prominent leaders of the PCC were also present on the occasion. They included Dharam Pal Sharma, Thakur Hari Singh, S. Gurmukh Singh, Ghulam Haider Sheikh, MLC Ravinder Sharma, Khem Lata Wakhlu, Swran Lata, Thakur Shiv Dev Singh, M. A. Nadaf, Kanta Bhan, Krishan Lal Gupta, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Farooq Indrabi, D.S.Langeh, Lalita Sharma, S.R.Sudhir, Ashwani Puri, Ravi Singh Slathia, Narinder Gupta, Pranav Shagotra and others.
