JAMMU, Nov 21: Former Union Minister and PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz took up the issue of providing 12 LPG subsidized cylinders to J&K with the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr Veerappa Moilly in the Union capital today.
A party spokesman said that Prof Soz explained to the Minister that he had already argued with his predecessor Jaipal Reddy and later with the Prime Minister that J&K deserves special consideration in view of the fact that this State experiences long spell of cold in the year as compared to other parts of the country. Therefore, the people here need much gas for consumption. The forest cover has also depleted and most of the population has to depend on the LPG.
Mr Moilly said though problem of supplying cooking gas in the country was not so good, yet he would consider the requirement of J&K. He assured Prof Soz that it was not possible to provide 12 LPG cylinders at the moment, but he would consider to provide 9 subsidized cylinders. The PCC chief also met the Union Home Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde and also took up this issue besides discussing other J&K security related issues with him, the spokesman added.
