Soz visits Pak firing-hit villages, condemns Pak

JAMMU, Oct 12: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Prof Saifuddin Soz today visited several Pakistani firing affected villages and Govt Medical College Hospital here and inquired about the health of injured and reviewed the facilities being provided to the victims.
Prof Soz while interacting with the media persons, strongly condemned the Pakistani firing resulting into loss of precious lives and injuries to a large number of border villagers. He said that the border firing has brought miseries and sufferings for the people and there is immediate need to implement comprehensive plan for their safety and security of lives as a long term measures for such situation.
PCC chief said Congress Party has always advocated the cause of border residents like providing of alternative accommodation in safer zones for these border migrants. He said that provision of five marlas of plot and other basic amenities in such areas have been recommended by State Govt besides providing of financial assistance at par with those killed in militancy related incidents. Soz also reiterated the demand of the party, declaring 5 kms area along with the International Border and LOC as Backward Area for benefit of reservation.
Prof Soz earlier visited the Govt Medical College and inquired about the health condition of those injured in Pak firing. Principal of the GMC Dr Ghanshyam and Medical Superintendent Dr Rattanpal briefed the PCC president about the condition of the firing victims. After inquiring about the availability of funds, Prof Soz (MP), offered to provide Rs 10 lakh out of his MPLAD for the provision of essential medicines and medical facilities for their proper treatment.
Later, accompanied by senior party leaders including Mula Ram, R S Chib, Suman Bhagat, Th Hari Singh, Prem Sagar Aziz, Ravinder Sharma (MLC), Swarn Lata, Indu Pawar (MLA), Vinod Mishra, Balwan Singh, Shiv Kumar, Dr Rashid Choudhary, Ashwani Puri, Bikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh and others, Prof Soz paid visit to relief/ migrants camps in Bishnah and R S Pura and reviewed the situation. He also inquired about the facilities being provided to the people accommodated there temporarily. The senior leaders of the party also briefed the PCC president about the factual situation along the border and woes of the border migrants. Soz also took review of the relief measures for the rains and flood affected people and demanded that Govt of India must provide adequate funds in order to rehabilitate the affected people of the State.
