Jammu, Nov 22: A drug awareness programme “Say No to Drug” was organised at Holy Cross Convent Higher Secondary School RS Pura to spread awareness on drug abuse.
SP Headquarters Jammu Ramnish Gupta was the chief guest of the event and was welcomed with a memento by the management. Other than him, SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna, SHO PS RS Pura Inspector Pawan Kumar and various other police officials were also present. Also Father/Principal of School Joshy, senior teachers Rohni Gill & Maria, school management , teachers and students were present in the event.
Gupta, in his speech, drew the attention of the participants and made them aware about the effects of drug addiction, government policies to curb it , laws and police actions against the suppliers, also enlightened the participants on drug menace and motivated them to aware their families and surrounding people.
He further added that police is committed towards public welfare and urged the students to inform us if they suspect any illegal activity in the area. He further added that students had to strongly come forward to make the area free from the menace of drug abuse. He also spoke on the various matters like eve teasing, excess usage of mobile phones, importance of education, sports and exercise for all the students.
Moreover, a cultural program cum beautiful play (Nukad Natak) was also presented by the students of the Holy Cross HSS RS Pura. Father of Holy Cross HSS and their staff also debated on the said drug awareness campaign thus giving valuable insights into the matter.
The SP Hqrs Jammu asked students to be aware of their surroundings and come forward to actively contribute towards a drug free society and help Police to curb trafficking of drugs.
