SPA seeks extension of date for Mediclaim Policy

JAMMU, Dec 26:  The J&K State Pensioners Association (SPA) has urged upon concerned authorities to extend the date for filling enrollment forms by pensioners as it is not impracticable to do so by  December 31, 2017 fixed in this regard as many of them  are living scattered in far off areas of the State.
The Association also sought that salient features of Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy be made public which the State Govt, is going to launch in respect of State employees and pensioners so that before filling the enrollment forms they are able to go through the merits and demerits of the policy as has been sought by the All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation headed by Abdul Majid Khan, a veteran trade union leaders.
Krishan Singh, president of the Association said the authorities should clarify from where the pensioners will obtain the enrollment forms and with whom they will deposit the same . He suggested that in the fitness of things the branches of J&K Bank from where they are getting pension may be provided the enrollment form for distribution among the pensioners and may also be  authorized as well to receive the same for onward submission to the nodal agency that is Finance Department.
SPA in a communication addressed to the Chief Secretary, BB Vyas and copies thereof endorsed to the Principal Secretary, GAD/ Finance and DG Accounts and Treasuries, sought priority attention of the Govt towards outstanding grievances of pensioners besides laying stress upon expeditious implementation of  7th CPC’s recommendations in J&K State, release of July 2017 DA installment and enhancement of Medical Allowance from present paltry rate of Rs300 to at least Rs 2000 in view heavy spurt in medicare expenses.
Singh,  drew the attention of  State Govt towards long overdue demands which include payment of DA arrears pertaining to the period from January to June 2009 to pre-2006 pensioners already paid to post-2006 pensioners and employees as well,  revision of pension in light of up gradation of SOs and employees of Accounts, Statistics/ Sheep / Animal Husbandry and other departments notionally from 1-1-1996 and monetarily from 19-02-2008.
