JAMMU, July 6: Jammu and Kashmir State Pensioners Association has reiterated the demand for revision of Medical Allowance for pensioners at Rs 1000 in view of steep rise in medical expenses .
Association president Krishan Singh said that All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation led by Abdul Majid Khan has also raised this demand on the basis of announcement made by the Central Government for grant of Medical Allowance to pensioners at the rate of Rs 1000 per month on the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission.
Krishan Singh also demanded implementation of 7th CPC’s recommendations in J&K State on the pattern of Central Government to which the State Government stands committed as the pensioners and employees are also facing acute financial hardships due to phenomenally rising prices of essential goods of daily consumption.
He pointed out that the pensioners have some long outstanding grievances which are required to be addressed and redressed by the Government on priority which include payment of DA arrears for the period from January to June 2009 to pre-2006 pensioners as the employees and even post-2006 pensioners were paid the same long back; Immediate revision of pension of SOs and certain posts of Accounts, Statistical, Sheep/Animal Husbandry Department retired in between January 1, 1996 to February 2003 to provide them the benefit of upgradation notionally from January 1, 1996 and monetarily from February 19, 2003 as those who retired after Frbruary 2003 or are still in service stand benefitted on this account.
