SPCB seizes 15 kg of banned polythene

RAMBAN, Nov 19: A team consisting of officers from State Pollution Control Board and Municipality Ramban today carried out surprise inspections in different markets and seized about 15 kg of banned polythene material.
The team issued warnings to shop keepers and asked them to desist from the use of polythene bags that have been banned under J&K Non-Biodegradable Act, 2007.
Later, Divisional Officer Pollution Control Board Ramban, Kuldeep Bhan also carried out inspections of vehicles carrying building materials and muck debris from construction sites in Chanderkote, Nashri and Gool road. He directed the drivers to cover the materials during transport so as to put a check on pollution and health hazards that may be caused as a result of negligence during transit.
