Speaker asks Panchs, Sarpanchs to work for development of State

SOPORE, Nov 28: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today said that people pinned their hopes with public representatives and asked the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work wholeheartedly for welfare and development of the people who gave them their confidence.
He was addressing a public rally at Lalad in Sopore constituency today.
Among others, Minister of State for R&B, Health and Medical Education, Javed Ahamd Dar, MLA, Sopore, Mohammad Ashraf Ganai,  Panchs, Sarpanchs, were present on the occasion.
The Speaker said that public representatives have an important role in formation and implementation of development plans at gross root level. He asked people to identify the developmental works need to be under taken in their areas so that plans are framed by Panchayat Raj Institutions accordingly. He said holding of BDC elections would further empower this institution thereby increase responsibilities of Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Javed Dar, while speaking on the occasion, said that primary responsibility of the public representatives is to go to the people for ascertaining and addressing their problems through Government agencies.  He asked people to know their rights and seek due share in development process launched by the Government across the State.
Cautioning Panchs and Sarpanchs, Javed appealed them to remain vigilant from the cunning policies adopted by opposition party. He said they (opposition) will get nothing from the false propaganda.
Javed said that Government is committed to increase and improve the basic needs of the people, adding that Panchayat Raj Institutions have direct role in this process. He said public representatives have been given opportunity to frame development plans as per their local needs.
MLA Sopore appealed the Panchs and Sarpanchs to ensure equal developmental opportunities in their respective Panchayat halqas so that people will get equal share in development.
