Speaker inaugurates free AYUSH medical aid, awareness camp

SRINAGAR, June 12: Speaker  Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today inaugurated free AYUSH medical aid and awareness camp at Sekidafar in Eidgah Constituency. The camp was organized by 10 bedded AYUSH Unit of SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. Gynecology, Skin Disease, Geriatric OPD and General medicine facilities were available in the camp.
Interacting with the doctors, the Speaker directed them to organize such camps in rural, far-flung areas of the State besides Eidgah Constituency which include Palpora, Braripora, Pamposh Colony and Noorbagh. He also asked them to ensure follow up action, adding that Government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is keen to provide all medicare facilities to the people at their door steps.
On the occasion, the Speaker was informed by the organizers that 2 lakh patients have been treated by the AYUSH Unit SMHS Hospital, Srinagar from 2009 till date.
A deputation from Sakidafar Mohalla met the Speaker and apprised about the problems including early development of Shahi Darbar Sakidafar link road and renovation of main holes. The Speaker heard them patiently and assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into. He announced that the upgradation of construction work of link road will be taken up  soon.
Later, the Speaker convened a meeting with the Co-ordination Committee All J&K Construction Worker Union to discuss and redress their genuine demands.
Detailed deliberations were also held on the pending marriage, death, and medical claim cases of various unions besides registration forms pending in labour department.
The Speaker directed the Labour Commissioner accompanying him to gear up their field functionaries and come up to the expectations of Labour class. He said Government is keen to solve the problems of construction workers, adding that the Government has established Jammu and Kashmir Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board for registering construction workers during their tenure with the aim to benefit the labourers.
Responding to the demands put forth by the Union, Mr. Gul said that the J&K Advisory Board for Labourers at Kashmir and Jammu is under consideration of the Government.
