JAMMU, Mar 6: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today inaugurated renovated Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Park at Shastri Nagar.
The renovation includes earth filling, restoration of damaged grill fencing, pavement patching, repairs and other related works.
MLC, Vikram Randhawa was accompanying the Speaker, besides several other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker reiterated that Government is committed to providing more public spaces and recreation services which provide the intrinsic environmental, aesthetic and recreational benefits in the urban environment, besides it provides a place where people refresh themselves and boosts their mental health.
MLC, Vikram Randhawa also highlighted the benefits of public parks and sought cooperation from the community populace for its preservation.
On the occasion, a public delegation briefed the Speaker about certain issues and demanded installation of open gym and plantation of diverse flower plants in the park. They also demanded that modernly equipped seesaws be installed in the park.
In response to the demands raised by the deputation, the Speaker said that concerned officers will be directed to form an estimation for installation of an open gym in the park and other demands will also be fulfilled in the stipulated timeframe.
Earlier, the Speaker also visited the Ward 52 of Channi Himmat to take stock of the developmental works being executed in the area, the Speaker was apprised that works are being executed apace and soon will be completed. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to bring further pace in their work to mitigate the public sufferings in the area.
