JAMMU, Mar 18: The newly elected Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today had an introductory meeting with the officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat and received brief account of the functioning of the Assembly.
The Speaker exhorted upon all the functionaries to work with extra zeal and dedication to improve the functioning of the Assembly. He asked them to extend necessary assistance to the Members by facilitating them with timely distribution of business and other material during the session. He maintained that Assembly staff is well versed with the working of the House and they must maintain the dignity of the institution with the dint of their hard work. He said the officers and officials are free to approach him with any kind of grievances, which he said will be addressed appropriately.
Secretary Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Ramzan gave a brief resume of the functioning of the Assembly to the Speaker and assured him fullest cooperation.
Later, the Speaker, accompanied by Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Secretary Assembly, Mohamamd Ramzan, Managing Director, JKTDC, Farooq Ahmed Shah and other officers of the Assembly inspected various sections of the Assembly and JKTDC Canteen. He directed the MD, JKTDC to upgrade the facilities in the canteen and provide quality eatables to the Members and others.
