Speaker launches development works worth Rs 50 lakh

JAMMU, June 18: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, launched various development works worth Rs 50 lakh here today.
The works include construction of multiple lanes and drains as part of development and maintenance of proper drainage system for Nanak Nagar area and restoration work of a community hall at New Bahu Fort Colony.
The Speaker also interacted with the residents of New Bahu Fort Colony and listened to their demands and problems.
The people put forth their issues regarding repair of roads, adequate water supply and installation of electricity poles etc.
The Speaker assured the people that the issues projected by them would be looked into for an early redressal.
He said that PHE Department has been directed to put in new water pipes in the area to resolve the water concerns of the people. Besides, the repair work of the New Bahu Fort Colony road and Boria filter plant road will be taken up soon.
Later, the Speaker took an overview of development issues of the area and reviewed the status of public utilities.
During his visit to Nanak Nagar, the Speaker addressed a gathering and stressed upon the need to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is a State where many religions, cultures and traditions converge and under no circumstance should we allow any anti social element and miscreant to disturb the peace of the region.
The Speaker was accompanied by SDM Jammu South Sonu Pargal and SDPO East Chandan Kohli besides concerned AEEs and JEs.
