JAMMU, Oct 23: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today released a DVD on Sand Sculpture prepared by Spring Art Group, Utarvahini at a function organized here today by Spring Art Group, Jammu in collaboration with Kala Kendra.
Earlier, the group organized a Rang Fest- 2016 at Kala Kendra Galleries which was inaugurated by Secretary, Kala Kendra & Director Local bodies, Soujanaya Sharma.
The Rangoli making festival was organized to mark the celebration of Diwali in which forty budding and senior artists made thirty six decorative art designs in the Rangoli style of painting.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that young generation should participate in these art and cultural activities to keep the traditional forms of art alive. He said the learned skills can help anyone in the time of need. He added that the youth and students need to carry on these activities in their future life even if they are engaged in other professions or jobs.
Soujanaya Sharma said that Kala Kendra is coming upto the expectations of the society and conducting art & culture activities once or twice in a month and this frequency will further increase in future. He appealed the senior artists to register for the allotment of the studios so that the same are made functional. He further informed that the terms and conditions have been made flexible so that new, young and upcoming artists could be benefitted in this regard.
Speaking on this occasion, Jagpal, curator of the event said that the purpose of organizing this festival is an attempt to revive the traditions of decorating our surroundings on the auspicious occasions like Diwali. He said that the younger generation needs to be guided and given exposure of these activities and they should be engaged in such art & cultural activities.
Mukul Manhas Co- curator said that it’s an opportunity for the budding and young artists to work with the senior and veteran artists and interact with them to learn more.
Later, the dignitaries distributed certificates of participation among the participants of Sand Sculpture Camp at Utarvahini, organized by Spring Art Group, Jammu.
Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated various development works at ward number 56 Gangyal besides taking stock of several ongoing works being executed in the area.
The speaker inaugurated three lanes constructed in the new colony being developed in the ward near Rajiv Gandhi Hospital.
