JAMMU, Dec 27: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today directed the Chairpersons of the Financial and other Committees of the House to work with dedication and make all out efforts in making the functioning of these Committees more viable and result oriented.
Chairing a meeting of Chairpersons of the Financial and other Committees of the House convened here today to discuss and review their working, he said that the working of these Committees have shown good results on ground.
The Speaker appreciated the achievements registered by each committee in the current year so far and called for making the functioning of these panels more effective, particularly with regard to the monitoring of flagship programmes and other welfare schemes.
The Speaker directed the Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) to ensure the submission of compliance of Action Taken Reports on the observations and recommendations issued by various Committees from time to time to the Assembly Secretariat in a time bound manner. He directed that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated and prompt action will be taken against erring officials.
The Chairpersons Rafi Ahmed Mir, Abdul Majid wani, Harshdev Singh, M. Y. Tarigami, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, G.A Mir, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, Blawant Singh Mankotia and Special Invite T. Namgial gave their valuable suggestions in making the functioning of the Committees more effective.
Secretary GAD, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed briefed the meeting about the implementations of the directions given by the Committees from time to time. He assured that prompt action will be taken on the observations and recommendations as and when issued by the Assembly Secretariat.
Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs G. H. Tantrey, Secretary Assembly M. Ramzan and other officers from Law Department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
