JAMMU, Oct 15: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today reviewed progress of PHE pipe laying work in Gandhi Nagar area at a meeting of concerned functionaries.
Being executed by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) the completion of the project would improve the water supply to Shastri Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat and other adjoining areas of Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
The meeting was informed that the work includes replacement and upgradation of existing water distribution network and household connections, extension of piped water supply to uncovered areas and improvement of service level for 24 x 7 water supply to the entire population.
Kavinder Gupta exhorted upon the executing agency to strictly adhere to fixed timelines and monitor the pace of work on regular basis. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely restoration of roads dug for pipe laying work to avoid inconvenience to the people.
Project Manager ERA Sanjeev Chadha informed that the work is going in full swing and would be completed by end of this year.
Later, the Speaker launched macadamization work on 300 metre road from Divya College link road via SDM South Office in block Satwari taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 lakh by PWD (R&B).
Interacting with the locals, the Speaker said that the Government has accorded top priority to upgradation of road infrastructure in the State.
Executive Engineer Rajan Mengi, SDM South Sonu Pargal and other senior officers also accompanied the Speaker.
Kavinder Gupta said that the Government will continue its endeavors to meet the aspirations of the people of the State and hoped that the people would extend their full cooperation to put the State on the track of development and progress.
Reiterating that the Government was committed to provide better civic amenities to all, he said that massive development activities have been started to provide safe drinking water, better sanitation and hygienic surroundings to people across the state.
The Speaker also inaugurated education consultancy agency under the aegis of Fine Step Study Consultants Pvt. Ltd, at Bahu Plaza.
