Speaker seeks cooperation from political parties for smooth conduct of session

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul sought cooperation from all political parties to ensure smooth conducting of the forthcoming session scheduled to commence from September 30, 2013.
Chairing a meeting of party leaders and chief whips of different political parties here today, the Speaker hoped that Members would utilize the time fixed for the session judiciously in order to highlight their maximum public interest issues in a democratic manner.
“Our effort would be to provide adequate time to the legislators for raising public interest issues,” said the Speaker and hoped that members will utilize the time prudently in view of short period of the session.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saiffullah, Minister for Agriculture Production, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Deputy Speaker, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, legislators Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, M. Y. Tarigami, Er. Abdul Rashid and A. R. Veeri gave their valuable suggestions in making the session a result oriented.
Suggesting for increasing timing of Business during the course of session, they also advocated for conducting of three sessions during the year. They also assured Speaker that full cooperation will be given to run the House in a cordial manner.
Responding to the suggestions given by the Members with regard to fair  reporting during the session, the Speaker said that clear cut directions were given to media persons to show impartiality and truthfulness while reporting the proceedings of the session in Press Advisory Committee meeting held recently. He said media has important role in highlighting the public issues and hoped that they will discharge their duties with utmost care and responsibility as per practices.
About increasing timing of Business, the Speaker said that decision in this regard will be taken in Business Advisory Committee meeting. He said that the directions were already given to the Government to ensure presence of officers during Zero Hour.
Secretary Assembly M. Ramzan and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat were present on the occasion.
