Speaker tells LS members to shun undignified conduct

NEW DELHI, Nov 26: The Opposition today attracted a warning from Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for the ruckus they created yesterday as she asked them not to force her to take recourse to the Rule Book in dealing with them.   Trinamool Congress members had brought in black umbrellas in the House while demanding suspension of the Question Hour to discuss what they called failure of the government in bringing back the black money within 100 days as promised by it.

They along with members of the Congress, SP and RJD shouted slogans in the Well and made various sounds. They brandished umbrellas with ‘kala dhan wapas lao'(bring back black money) written on it.

The Speaker said the proceedings of Parliament were watched by the whole country, including children, so undignified behaviour of the members would lower their own dignity and dignity of the House.

She said she did not want to deal with their behaviour strictly going by the Rule book, so they should understand their responsibility and behave accordingly in the House. (UNI)
