Speaker’s directive on early completion of hospital

JAMMU, Feb 18: Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today directed the Health Department to speed up the pace of work on construction of Rs. 11.54 crore Maternity Hospital Noorbagh in Eidgah constituency and complete it in a time frame.
This direction was given by the Speaker during Question Hour in a question raised by Mohammad Yasin Shah in the House.
The Speaker also asked the Health Department to make the hospital functional immediately and ensure procurement of machinery, and other requisite equipments.
Earlier, Minister for PHE, Sham Lal Sharma informed the House that construction work of Rs. 11.54 crore Maternity Hospital Noorbagh in Eidgah constituency is nearing completion, adding that Rs. 7.58 crore has been incurred on its execution up to last financial year while as Rs. 1.10 crore has been approved for the project during current financial year.
Replying to a question of Mr Shah in the House, the Minister informed that the hospital building is almost complete and ready for inauguration.
The Minister said that eight posts for Mini Maternity Hospital Noorbagh have already been sanctioned by the Government, adding that the upgradation to the level of Mother and Child Care Hospital along with creation of additional 38 posts of various categories has been taken up with Planning and Development Department.
The Minister said that to make the hospital functional Rs. 2 crore has been approved under NRHM for procurement of machinery and equipments. He said the supply order for procurement of requisite equipments has been placed with the supplier.
