JAMMU, May 9: Governor NN Vohra today fixed May 10 as the date for conducting election of the Legislative Assembly Speaker in the Assembly Hall tomorrow.
The election will be held at 2 pm.
Official sources said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basharat Ahmed Bukhari would propose the name of BJP veteran and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh for the post of Speaker. Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta will second the name.
Dr Nirmal Singh is likely to be elected as the Speaker unanimously as the Opposition seems to be in no mood to contest the post in the absence of numbers.
Post of the Speaker had fallen vacant following appointment of Kavinder Gupta as the Deputy Chief Minister.
