Special ‘Karvachauth’ packs for women in relief camps

JAMMU, Oct 10: The district administration has ordered special packs on the occasion of ‘Karvachauth’ for women shifted to relief camps established in Kathua district in view of cross border firing.
As hundreds of women along with their families have migrated to temporary camps in the bordering belts due to cross border firing, the Kathua district Administration have arranged items required for observing ‘karvachauth’ for the women folk.
“We have ordered 1100 packs from the Pathankot, which will be distributed among the women in the camps tomorrow so that they can celebrate ‘Karvachauth’ with complete rituals,” Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua said here.
Dr Choudhary said the ordered packets contained dry fruits, sweets, flowers and other traditional items.
“We have also arranged and provided items required at the time of observing fast, which have been distributed among the females at certain camps as per the requirement,” said the DC.
Meanwhile, one Ashok Shatri, a border resident, shifted to the temporary camp in Ghagwal told on telephone that the district administration has provided every facility at the camps.
“Special arrangements have been made for the women for ‘Karvachauth’ tomorrow and all required items have been provided at the doorstep,” he said.
