Special lecture organized on National Law Day

DODA, Nov 26: Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Doda organised a programme in connection with National Law Day which is celebrated in connection with adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent assembly on this day in 1949. A special lecture was organised on the topic of “Human Rights viz a viz Security of the State”. Programme was attended by the members of legal fraternity including District Judiciary at Head Quarter Doda, members of District Bar Association Doda, empaneled lawyers and Para-legal Volunteers of Tehsil Legal Services Committee, court staff and all the concerned at CJM Court Complex, Doda.
Tahir Khurshid Raina, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Doda presided over the function and delivered keynote address and Imtiyaz Ahmed Mir Advocate, President Bar Association Doda was the main speaker in the programme.  Programme commenced with the welcome and opening remarks by Rajeev Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Doda in the capacity of Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee. He spoke on the importance and historic perspective of the day. It was highlighted that adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly was the culmination of struggle for freedom and nationhood, as also the commencement of governance by rule of law.
Imtiyaz Ahmed Mir spoke at length on the subject and told the gathering that human rights have the foundation in number of international documents and conventions of United Nations in the backdrop of human struggle to secure decent and dignified status in the society.
Tahir Khurshid Raina in his keynote address traced the history of human rights through the development of  human civilisation and religious scriptures.
It was told that Bill of Rights of America in the general sense is not the first record of documentation of Human Rights but the religious scriptures had long time back propounded the importance of rule of law, equality of human race and individual liberty.
It was also highlighted that the Charters and the Conventions of the United Nation have not for the first time provided for human rights and in that sense are not the sole repositories of such rights, but these have only declared which was already inherent in every individual from his very birth. It was hoped that those involved in dispensation of political and socio-economical welfare of the citizens will make best endeavour to uphold the core values of the Constitution of India while discharging their functions.
