JAMMU, Feb 24: In connection with ESIC Foundation Day, Special Services Fortnight is being observed by ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana, Jammu.
The event started with lighting of Panchdeep, “the logo of ESIC” which symbolizes the spirit of the Scheme. On this occasion, a five bedded Air Conditioned High Dependency Unit equipped with latest two number of Ventilators and Multi-Para Monitors was inaugurated in the hospital by Dr Tilak Raj (Medical Superintendent).
Further, a preventive health check-up cum awareness camp was also organized at Crystal Crop Protection Ltd, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu. A team, led by Dr Meenakshi Sharma (CMO) and Dr Megha along with Nursing & Paramedical staff, including laboratory staff conducted the camp for insured persons/beneficiaries/workers, working in the said unit.
In the camp 50 I.Ps/beneficiaries/workers were screened by the visiting medical team, 15 of which were aging above 40 years and base line investigations like Hb., BSR, Blood grouping were also done of the screened workers. Dr Tilak Raj (Medical Superintendent) also paid a visit to the organized camp and took stock of the services being provided to the I.Ps/beneficiaries/workers there.
A health talk was also delivered by the visiting doctor emphasizing on various preventive health measures with special attention to covid-19.
The ESIC scheme was inaugurated in Kanpur on 24th February 1952 (ESIC Day) by the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The scheme was simultaneously launched at Delhi as well and the initial coverage for both the centres was 1,20,000 employees.
The first Prime Minister was the first honorary insured person of the Scheme and the declaration form bearing his signature is a prized possession of the Corporation.
Accordingly ESIC observes ESIC Day Special Services Fortnight every year and on Foundation Day this year, ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana Jammu is observing the same in letter and spirit from February 21 to March 7.
