Speed breakers

Sir,
It is with a view to check overspeeding that the authorities construct speed breakers on the roads. Generally the speed breakers are constructed near the public places such as schools/colleges, temples, cantonments etc where many people cross the road and where there is an apprehension of some road accident /mishap taking place. These speed bumps are constructed using hard materials to give them more strength and permanence. Some of these speed breakers are high having sharp and rough edges which necessitates that the vehicle has to be slowed down to ensure that it does not suffer any damage while passing over the speed breaker. Drivers find it difficult to navigate vehicles having low ground clearance even at low speed to cross such bumps. Usually, these speed breakers are painted white to give an idea to the drivers from a distance that they are approaching the speed breakers and they should slow down the speed of their vehicle. But it is generally observed that in most of the cases, the white paint has fainted to such an extent that these speed breakers are not visible to the drivers, especially those who are strangers to particular roads with the result that many a time the drivers driving speedily damage their vehicles or suffer injuries. In some cases, the bikers suffer grievous injuries sometime leading to fatalities. Thus, the need of the hour is to construct speed bumps of moderate height and  having smooth edges and frequently paint them white to warn the drivers against driving at a tremendous speed. At the sametime, the spots where these speed breakers are not needed ought to be identified and speed bumps removed while these should be constructed in accident prone and busy areas. Moreover, the concerned authorities ought to erect traffic sign boards on both sides of the speed bumps signifying that the drivers are about to pass their vehicle over a speed breaker. In this way, the damage to the vehicles as also the injuries to the driver and the passangers can be prevented.
Yours etc….
