Spike in COVID cases: 140 test positive in J&K, one dies

Spurt in Ladakh too, 11 new cases reported

JAMMU/Srinagar/ LEH, Mar 18: One person died of COVID-19 and 140 tested positive while 74 others recovered from the virus in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Of 140 fresh Coronavirus positive cases, 115 were reported from the Valley and 25 in Jammu.
Among 25 persons, who tested positive for pathogen in Jammu region today, 20 cases alone were reported in Jammu district, two each Udhampur and Kathua and one in Doda district. Rest six districts of the region didn’t report any new cases today.
Sixteen persons recovered from the virus, 11 of them in Jammu district, two each Samba and Reasi and one in Kathua district.
Jammu region now has 52292 Corona cases. Among them, 244 are active positives while 51317 have recovered from the virus and there have been 731 casualties in the region.
Of 731 casualties, the highest 378 have been reported from Jammu district followed by 64 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 41 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, there was a spike in COVID-19 cases in Kashmir with 115 fresh cases reported today while one person died of Corona in the Valley taking the death toll to 1,978.

Those who tested positive in Kashmir include 75 Srinagar, 17 Baramulla, 6 Budgam, 2 Pulwama, 1 Kupwara, 6 Anantnag, 1 Bandipora, 2 Kulgam and 5 from Shopian.
In Kashmir, over 100 positive cases were reported for the second consecutive day pushing the number of active cases to almost 1100, which was below 500 a week ago.
The number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached 75,805 including 73,729 recoveries and 1,247 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,073 including 829 from Kashmir division and 244 from Jammu division.
With 74 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 125,046, which is 97.61 percent of the total cases.
Meanwhile, the UT of Ladakh today also reported spurt in Coronavirus cases with 11 person testing positive including 10 in her and one in Kargil district.
The UT of Ladakh now has 51 active positive cases.
