JAMMU, May 5: Special Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) D K Pathak today reviewed security arrangements in District Jail Kathua and other jails with senior officers of para-military force and discussed arrangements for setting up of Group Centre of the CRPF in Kathua district.
Accompanied by IG CRPF, Jammu K S Bandhari and DIG, Kathua Group Centre SS Dogra, Mr Pathak visited District Jail Kathua, Sub District Jail Hiranagar, Lakhanpur, the entrance of Jammu and Kashmir from Punjab and Madhopur Ravi bridge, where CRPF has been deployed on security duty.
The Special DG CRPF reviewed the security scenario in both the jails after inter-acting with the staff posted there including the CRPF officers. He directed the CRPF jawans to ensure strict surveillance in the jails to prevent any Friday like incident at Kot Bhalwal jail, where Pakistani prisoner, Sanaullah was brutally assaulted.
Mr Pathak had a review of security arrangements at Lakhanpur in the wake of upcoming Amarnath yatra in which the CRPF would be playing a major role. He inter-acted with senior CRPF and police officers.
Sources said the Special DG CRPF also reviewed arrangement for setting up of Group Centre of the para-military force at Koota Morh in Kathua district.
Mr Pathak met the Revenue officers and inquiry the steps taken to hand over 276 acres of land to the CRPF at Koota Morh for the Group Centre. The CRPF has already paid Rs 28 crore for the land in first phase but the possession hasn’t been handed over to the para-military force so far.
As an alternate, the CRPF was also considering setting up of the Group Centre at Pattar Sana.
The CRPF Special DG directed the authorities to sort out the issue pertaining to land and handover the possession to CRPF immediately so that it can go ahead with construction work to set up the Group Centre in Kathua. The Revenue authorities assured the Deputy Commissioner that they would take all measures for transfer of land to the CRPF at the earliest.
