JAMMU, Dec 16: Department of Commerce, Govt SPMR College of Commerce, organized an awareness programmme on `Cyber Security and Cloud Computing’.
During the awareness programme, a detailed presentation on the importance of cyber security was given by the resource person, Vikas Sharma, Senior IT Trainer, JetKing, a leading Cloud Computing & Cyber Security Training Institute of India.
The aim of the programme was to aware the students about common cyber threats like social engineering scams, phishing, ransomware attacks and other malwares like adware, spyware, viruses, bombs, Trojans, email worm etc that can harm computer systems, network devices and programs from any type of cyber attacks.
Mr Sharma threw light on various types of cyber criminals and cyber crime trends. He educated the students about best practices like use of Firewalls, Window defenders, Anti-viruses, intelligent cloud security solutions alongside strong password policies like multi- factor authentication to mitigate unauthorized access. He further urged the students to be careful about the information they share on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
The students showed keen interest and made the event a very interactive one. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Jagmeet Kour and formal vote of thanks was given by Dr Shipra Gupta.
The awareness programme was organized under the patronage of the College Principal, Dr Surinder Kumar and guidance of HoD Commerce, Prof Barbara Kaul.
