JAMMU, Dec 24: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured after a tipper involved in illegal mining hit him in Bhatindi area.
As per police sources, a team from Police Post Bhatindi led by PSI Mohammad Ilyas laid a naka to check illegal mining.
During checking, the team signalled a tipper laden with construction material to stop. The driver accelerated the vehicle and hit a car parked near the naka site, resulting into injuries to a cop. The driver along with vehicle escaped from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
The injured SPO identified as Shakeel Ahmed was shifted to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and was later discharged after medical treatment.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and hunt has been launched to nab the tipper driver.
